Shinedown-Amaryllis review

The follow-up to 2008 hugely successful American rockers released their new album ‘Amaryllis’ on the 26th March 2012.

Shinedown became more recognized as a rock band after their 2008 ‘Sound of Madness’ and since then have spent nearly two years touring the US. which also produced last years live double album ‘Somewhere in the stratosphere’

Amaryllis continues much in the same vein as ‘Sound of Madness’ mixing hard rock tracks (e.g Bully and Adrenaline) with radio friendly tracks (e.g Miricle and Follow you). Shinedown will find in new fans with the collection of songs.

As with all of their albums Shinedown know where their strengths are and they lie firmly in Brett Smiths unbelievably powerful vocals In my opinion his vocals are second only to Myles Kennedy (Alter Bridge, Slash) in American rock.

That being said however they have an immensely talented Zach Myers on guitar whose tasteful solos and heavy guitar riffs are still very much in the heart of the album and are backed up superbly by the thunderous rhythm section consisting of Eric Bass, bass and Barry Kerch, Drums.

In truth this album will help affirm Shinedown’s as one of America’s finest rock bands and will hopefully boost their fan
